I know this all come abit too late, I thought I have stopped blogging for some reason and now I'm back to blogging for the same reason. Anyway, it has been at least a month ago when Broken Crayon won the short fiction award at the 4th Singapore Short Film Awards. I can't really find back the same feeling right now but all I remember vividly is I was overwhelmed with joy but very much in shock too when my name was announced and that day was really a big wow for me. That feeling was really indescribable, as usual, I stammered so much during the award speech.

I am thankful to you guy, I can't do it without your help and support. These are some of the behind the scene photos:

How to check who's your top secret stalker on Facebook

Apr 24, 2013

 photo Screenshot2013-04-10atPM013942_zpsac7a31e2.png

It has been a while since my last update, and yes I'm back to start blogging regularly. A lot of drastic changes in my life and I got so much to say but I'll leave it to another blogpost with pretty pictures.

I've decided to blog about something interesting here - how to check who stalk you on facebook. It is pretty easy to find out actually and this is not some scam please, I have better things to do. First, left click on your facebook page and you'll see this icon popping out - click view source and you'll see a string of weird html or source code page.

 photo Screenshot2013-04-10atPM014023_zps674710d7.png
Scroll down all the way till you see a whole stack of numbers with the " ". The first no appears on your page is your no1. stalker 's facebook ID number (on your right hand side at the corner)  for instance let's say it is "2308484" . Copy and paste the number at the back of the link www.facebook.com/"2308484" and then press enter to see who is your secret stalker. Good luck.

Have a good day everyone.

Valentine Special

As you can see, I have prepared a special editorial for everyone on this Valentine's Day. I bought my very first dress from ASOS and I'm loving the cut of it. Pairing with Guess ladies' glisten two tone watch, the Sunray silver multi function dial with rose gold number markers, rose gold bezel with crystals, silver and rose gold bracelet is a perfect match for this season. The style of the watch gives a feeling of strong/ independence woman but personally I have this special thing for Rose gold as it just adds a feminine touch to it, balancing both the idea of feminine and independent of contemporary woman today.

The first thing in my mind when you mention about Brick and Bolsas is their efficiency in services has won my heart. I really admire people who take pride in their work and putting their customer in their top priority. Brick and Bolsas has a range of variety of bags that is really suitable for both work and play.

Salon Vim has never failed to keep my hair in my best condition even though my hair is growing at the stage whereby it is difficult to maintain because of the length itself, it could have been quite frustrating for me because I always can't do a proper styling and my hair is growing like a thick bush but somehow Allan, my hairstylist has been winning praises from friends, relatives and even strangers during Chinese New Year especially. I am really grateful for this new current hairstyle that he recommended - I was very much in doubt with myself when Allan said Olive brown will look good on me. Very much convinced by Allan and his years of experience, indeed, it gives a softer look and definitely a fresher look. I'm so much in love with it. I dye my hair almost every month and yet the condition of my hair is almost perfect - Thanks to Redken. It helps to reconstruct, reconditions and add immediate strength without added weight to my hair.

Last but not least, wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day.

I usually give myself a time frame for everything I do. Thus, these 2 years will be my crucial years to do well in my career as a filmmaker.  Having said that, I make sure I plan my schedule carefully so that I could balance both work and my personal projects as well as my time for my loved ones. Post-it has always been a good friend of mine, she is always so fun as she comes in all sort of colours sticky Post-it around to help me to differentiate my short term goal, long term goal and immediate tasks that I need to finish within a certain time period. I have never been good with organising, because I am naturally the messy sort of a person. However it isn't an excuse for me, I just need more time compare to most to organise my thoughts. I can easily move her around if I decided to change the date/postpone my meeting to another date. It definitely helps to save more paper and time for me in a way that I don't mess up my calender with ugly and frustrating cancellation! Thanks Post-it, for making planning a less dull task to do. Even when it comes to leisure time like reading, Post-it just makes it so convenient for me whenever I need to go back to the previous pages for reference.

Besides that, Post-it can make things romantic for your partner or family. Write a note of I love you on Post-it and stick it in front of the mirror before you head off to work. Or even stick it on your forehead to make your partner laugh. It really comes in handy be it at work or play. I love Post-it. It is a simple yet fabulous invention!

Share your happiness with Post-it via this Facebook contest and stand to win S$1000 worth of travel vouchers.

Manage your stress level

Just met up with my ex student few days ago and I realised that examination is around the corner and I guess many are coping well with the stress level? Back in school, I used to be really competitive and always work worked very hard to achieve what I set up to reach. The thing is I am not a very smart kid in school and my biggest barrier is my poor English. I took arts instead of sciences, so there were tons of essays I needed to do. My writing skill is poor and it's it was always difficult to pen down my thoughts. Racing with time, I strategised and trained myself to write faster. Personally, What I used to do was to spot questions and read through all the questions and analyze it, then break down and read lots of good essays, write it down on my notebook and memorize some of the good phrase during examination for my geography/General Paper from the past exam booklets to make sure I am ready for the kind of questions that is going to be set. Knowing myself that I m am not as smart as the rest, I work worked harder to compensate. I I’ve always believe believed that determination and hard work is the key to success. I know this is really cliché but it is so true!
Now I've just stepped into the working world. Work can be so intensive and stressful but sometimes I think minimize minimal/manageable stress level works better for me to give me a good push. At film set, there are a lot of multitasking and a lot of pre- thinking and pre-planning. My brain never stops working for 12 hours in the shoot (you can see I frowned a lot at work) and honestly speaking, i think work can be tougher than exam in school because it's harder to expect and there are more to handle, say managing people. However, if you could manage your stress in school, there shouldn't be much of a problem for you in future when you start stepping into the working world so managing stress is indeed a skill. Don't be afraid of Stress. Below are the tips to help you to cope better for your coming papers! Good luck!

A) When you find yourself feeling very stressed, apply COPES.

C – Calm Down
When you find yourself feeling stressed, stop doing your work for a while, do some deep breathing, and calm yourself down.
O – Options
Think of all the possible solutions to the problem you are facing and list them down.
P – Positive Thinking
Tell yourself that you are able to solve the issue at hand. Have confidence in yourself.

E – Explore Options
Explore all the possible options you listed down, think of the pros and cons of each option, select the best option, and take action to solve your problem.

S-Seek Help
Seek help from people you trust (e.g. friends, parents, teachers, counsellors)

B) Plan your time and activities - Keep a daily to-do list - Keep a calendar and schedule not only your to-dos but also time out for yourself - Divide up the tasks that seem large or difficult into smaller sub-tasks

C) Take care of yourself
o Rest & relax o Take breaks o Make time for fun activities o Get sufficient
quality sleep o Listen to music o Do deep-breathing exercises

D) Eat healthily
 Eat a balanced diet consisting of a variety of foods from the different food groups  Take plenty of fruits and vegetables  Hydrate regularly
E) Exercise regularly  Physical activity releases endorphins which are feel-good
hormones and helps to relieve stress.

F) Learn to cope with expectations
o Personal Expectations  Set realistic goals. You can raise your expectations as you achieve your targets.  Unrealistic expectations can make you feel frustrated and lose confidence over time.  Ask for help from supportive people e.g. teachers, parents, friends.  Mistakes are not failures - learn from them and commit to do better the next time. o Parents’ Expectations  Fix a time with your parents to talk about their expectations of you.  Discuss your feelings openly, calmly, and honestly with them.  Map out your own expectations and negotiate with them.  Tell them what help you may need from them.

G) Other StudyTips  Organise your study space - make sure it’s separate from your relaxation area  Plan a proper and realistic revision timetable and follow it  Start with subjects you enjoy  Have a good study buddy  Do not be afraid to ask for help when unsure about a topic or subject

Working on a horror film set for nearly a month, I always have eyes for subjects that are not in focus. They look mysterious, surreal and beautiful when too much is not said or shown. It is romantic to see how lights are lit from different direction at the point that you are standing in the dark. However, imagine these pictures are the eyes of drunkard, the whole perspective changes . It seems dangerous ahead and you don't know what to expect ahead because you maybe illusional and you can't make any good judgement.

Accidents happen because of binge drinking. A friend 's friend of mine got drowned in the sea at Zoukout years ago because drinking take a toll on him. Whenever I attend Zoukout party,  I just can't thinking of the person who got drown in the sea, I just feel so bad for that person/parents/friends. Look, we are responsible for our own life, but we are also responsible how we owe our life to - our parents. You can have fun at party but it is not worth getting so drunk at the party. Remember that being drunk impairs decision making and leads one to take risks which he otherwise would not take and you don't want any life regrets.

Focus or blur? You can decide.

I had an art party lately (will post up more photo in the next post soon!) and it was so crazy that we need no drinking to end the night high and fun. (I am sure you could tell from the pictures) My gang of girls stayed off alcohol and we were all so excited having to meet new people to discuss about our work and share inspiring ideas. I also realized that I appreciated the music that was played in the event better than any other day when I was not too sober in other few occasions when I just indulged myself in drinking (because they were mostly events with free-flow of alcohol!) So there was once at a certain event, the alcohol kicked in slower than expected and before I knew it, I lost my balance, tripped and had a great fall like humpty dumpty. It was super embarrassing because firstly, I was wearing a dress and I just went 'coffeeshop' in front of all my friends, secondly my favourite dress was white and when I stood up, the dress was literally wet and stained! Not to say, I had a big bruise on my knee the very next day.

My point here is that I do not encourage binge drinking and it is important to note that every girl should limit their drinking to protect themselves. Set a limit for yourself and stick to it. You can even make a pact with your girl friend not to exceed a certain number of drinks if that will help. Here are some suggestions that you girls out that might wanna note: - Alternate an alcoholic drink with a glass of water or mocktail. - You may also want to note that you shouldn’t drink on an empty stomach. It can increase your appetite for food and may cause you to overeat. You don't want your weigh to lose out of control because of drinking too! to overeat. You don't want your weigh to lose out of control because of drinking too.

If you happen to see a big colourful machine around clubs, you may want to try it! Check out the video above to find out more. It is a game that will have your friends asking if you’re Tickled Pickled or too Drunkensteined to even remember a night of revelry and fun. Quite cute isn’t it and it’s real simple to play: blow into the breathalyzer and watch the levels light up to reveal if you’re a Ditzy Babbler or Giddy Guzzler. Go easy on the drinks and you stand a good chance at winning the title of Last Man Standing, and walking away with neat prizes! Thanks to Health promotion board that came out with such an attractive and entertaining colourful machine, I am really amazed with this machine! Well done! Some tips for a better night for guys too! Eat before and during drinking, but avoid food that makes you thirsty. Move around, dance or chat with people instead of sitting down. If you must drink, set yourself a limit and run like mad if anyone tries to break it. Haha. Remember, you can still have fun partying without getting drunk. I did and still do. You really don't want to end up making out with your co-worker or calling your ex which doesn't reflect much good on yourselves. Stay hot before and after the party, not in the pool of vomit.

Colour Splash

I am thrilled by the picture at the top, I decided to do a colour splash! Those who love the thought of a head turning two or more tone color need to look no further than bright splashes of color in purple, pink and orange! Weaved throughout random sections of your hair, these pops of color look great when teamed with contrasting shades, such as black or red hair. Thanks to Allen from Salon Vim. Allen bleached my hair and added 2 layers of professional Loreal colours, pink at the ends of my hair and inner layer while purple at the outer layer. Here is a picture above of posed by me and my favourite hairstylist, he is such an awesome and creative person!

Plus double happiness is I got my nail painted at only $28 instead of usual price at $78, I just need to get the voucher from dealprimo. 12hours of shoot everyday is driving me crazy thus these colours to make my day better at work. Loving the top from Mustard&mint, if you are huge fan of pastel colours, you are lucky! Mustard&mint owns a series of pastel colours of outfits that you probably want to add into your wardrobe! Also, I can't deny the fact that I have a big something for prints and the stretchy and comfortable material made my day for a hot weather in Singapore.

Chiobu and/but Chiobu

Sep 3, 2012

my vision of CHIOBU is the celebration of the Singaporean Girl. I went to Europe last year and realized many foreigners always mistook me as a Japanese or Chinese girl. When I told them I was from Singapore, some of them gave me a puzzled look and had no idea where Singapore was. True enough that it is difficult to distinguish a Singapore girl between a Japanese or Chinese girl, i thought it would be interesting to make an effort to shoot 15 Singapore girls in Singapore in my own interpretation visually.

Also, there are too many photos of Caucasian models from overseas in Singapore's media, and not enough focus on Singaporean girls. what would be interesting to explore is showcasing Singaporean girls through my artistic craft.

I am just so glad so lucky so blessed that I have had so many beautiful and helpful friends around to allow me to intrude into their space or time to make this video possible. The video has hit 2k viewership in less than 2 days, and i am totally thrilled to see the number. I am thankful for Aisya who did a really wonderful job on the editing.

And also not forgetting to mention www.obscured.sg for doing a small feature for me and the chiobu committee, tell me how life couldn't be more exciting if life is all about creation/creating ideas, so what are you waiting for? Let's just create!

I m so looking forward to the CHIOBU POP ART PARTY that is going to happen on the 31st of August. We are featured in the Straits Times today and I m kinda surprised that my name is being mentioned - 'film maker Ang Geck Geck' in a really tiny weeny space somewhere in the article that you probably won't even notice it but this just meant so much to me, to be addressed as a filmmaker officially. Till today, it just seem to be a bit surreal that I am actually a filmmaker. In any way, I am motivated to produce more better films in future and a little cliche, I want to say I m just proud of who I am today. Of course, thanks to people who share my work on chiobu movement facebook page to your fellow friends for appreciating what I've produced. Can't wait to see you guy at Pigeon Hole, at Duxton Road on this coming Friday with the rest of the 9 female artists.  Ciao.
